War drums, bad ass. The reason to a 4 instead of a five was that there were certain parts in the beginning that got completely silent which didn't feel to good.

UtahClock responds:

Ill have to fix that in the next day or two, the time between first drum and second one is a little to long.

Good stuff man. It has an awesome groove to it, almost like an 80s disco groove.

Ediblefungus responds:

Thanks, I wasn't trying to resurrect disco, but I guess it works. :D

More ambient than dubstep? I don't feel like it gets anywhere but the effort is noticable.

BAZmotherfucker responds:

I'm not too into dubstep actually, I was really going for electronic dub, which draws aspects from electronic, ambient, and reggae music. I draw a lot of inspiration from Hallucinogen's "In Dub" album. It kills me that they don't have Dub available as a genre on NGs, seeing as dubstep was definitely not what I was trying to do exclusively, but I guess Dub music just isn't popular enough to have representation on this site. I would appreciate it if you reviewed the actual freaking song instead of nitpicking about genres, because that really isn't the point of this review space... I don't feel like this review gets anywhere, but the effort is noticeable. ;b I might change the genre anyway just to avoid getting 0-bombed by dubstep lovers...

Pretty damn good man

CaseyVenn responds:

Thanks, Kaskrin. I'm glad you like it. ~CV

There is no melody, nor is there any contrast. The hit sound is bit crush galore and doesn't sound nice at all. Work on the sounds and changing the pace of the song. It shouldn't just be hard the entire time, a listener needs some time to relax. Listen to some popular electronic music that you like, and think about the dynamics of the song, it will help you structure you song better.

Gnorfell responds:

I'm gonna have that in mind when I continue working on it.

Yes, some innovative dubstep. I love it because it doesn't sound like anything other dubstep style.

DjThePluck responds:

thanks the innovation comes from not knowing dubstep for real xD i just listened to one or two songs, here on newgrounds ^.^ so its more random than i ever planned xD

It is "cute"

The clockwork feel is great and for some reason it made me LoL when I first start listening to it. Great as a soundtrack and I hope this will work well with the game you are a part of developing!

BenTibbetts responds:

Thanks!

Needs more consistency

At about 1:40, when the beat cuts out, there is no warning, it is very abrupt. It's fine to have it soft with a build, but when a beat cuts out with no sign it does not feel nice. The build is great, a little long. I love 2:44, my favorite part. The background synths are beautiful. At about 3:06 that pause drop is also awesome. It is obvious you put a good amount of effort in the sounds and the melody. It is repeated a lot but it works in this kind of clubbing/dance music with the sounds you used and the great melody you formulated.

DDman465 responds:

I see what you mean at 1:40. After working on it for a while, sounds seem to just appear in my head and I overlook it, haha. There's still quite a bit of polishing to do, and I still have a few things I want to try. Thanks for the review!

Very Repetitive and not easy to follow

The drums are not easily heard and every track sounds to be running into each other. All I can distinctly hear is the high pitched melodic downscale synth which gets boring very quickly.

My suggestion is to listen to it over again, balance the volumes of the tracks and don't let too many things happen at once. Also instead of having a constant downscaling melodic synth, change it up. Don't repeat something just because it's annoying to change. Trust me it will sound much better if you do these things.

quadx responds:

thanks for the review im already in the process of reworking the song

if ur intrested in hearing a preview of the final pm me

Very Abrupt and Inconsistent

You need to work on your sounds and fading in/out. The listener needs a warning that something is coming. At around 0:40, that noise is extremely blatant and unexpected. Also I don't hear one kick/bass drum in the entire song. This could be considered "avant-garde" if that is what you were going for.

Needs work, but keep trying, never give up on music.

flashmakeit responds:

Appreciate your review and I will work on my audio some more with those detailed tips in mind. And thanks for the hope I will never give up.
